Second year in a row for fewer permanent visas

A reallocation of skilled visas means New Zealanders are the big winners

Another major change in Australia’s visa scheme has come to light and it wasn’t through a submission through Cabinet.

Home Affairs, the new name for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, has confirmed that of the forty four thousand places in Australia’s skilled independent visa program, as many as 10,000 New Zealanders already living and working in Australia will be part of this annual allocation.

This will have big ramifications to resident of China and India, traditionally big sources for the skilled visa program.
